BIRD Watching

So, we have often came across the word BIRD WATCHING.
But, when i gave a piece of paper to 10 of my friends, with an assignment to write down what are all the birds they have seen so far, the result was astonishing. It is pity to say that the largest count was 20 (One rule was imposed that the birds seen by them in sanctury, zoo etc.. shall be excluded).
Deleting the common birds, even some of my friends with strong rural background cannot name several birds which are normally available in the country side. Either they acn't name them or they have not watched them (simply seen them).
Hoow about our youngs ? Are they to be taken to a zoo to introduce some of even common birds which are familier by our time ? It is so pathetic. We have lent all our time to the IB (Idiot or Intelligent Box (TV), which ever the case may be depending upon our attitude and derivations made by us). So, i recall what are all the birds i have seen.
1.Indian Crow
2.Vulture
3.Eagle
4.Myna
5.Crane
6.Hen
7.Cock
8.Sparrow
9.Dove
10.Kadai
11.Kavudhari
12.Turkey
13.Kinni Kozhi
14.Parrot
15.Thookanankuruvi
16.Chittukuruvi
17.Duck
18.Thanneer Kozhi
19.Peacock
20.Twin mahandril
21.Kuyil
The list is so small i think. I probably cannot name some of the other birds. Some of them here were written in tamil name. So, can u mae some more ? or recall some more birds ?

Here i got some bird images :

S.Ramakrishnan

Right from his Thunaiezhuthu in Anantha Vikatan, I became a fan of S.Ramakrishnan. In his last entry he has described about " DEVAMALAR" a russian novel. I am curious to go through it. He is a writer who can describe his experience in a smooth flowing language. I have read all the books except, " Ezhu Thalai Nagaram". I think i have sent 3 or 4 letters to him, which have failed to fetch a reply. It is ok. I am following his blog here closely..
